Takeout Doubles Breakdown: (Part 12 of 24) Advancer – Bidding Notrump When Not Forced

A contract is only doubled if everyone passes after the double. If anyone bids something (other than pass), then that bid removes the double. If our RHO (right-hand opponent) bids after our partner makes a takeout double, this removes the double and with it, the necessity for us to bid. Our bids still have the same meanings, but because we can pass, if we choose to bid, we need to have a combination of shape and strength.
