Takeout Doubles Breakdown: (Part 1 of 24) Introduction

We need our bidding language to communicate a lot of different elements, with very few words! Each bid has to be as efficient and useful as possible. At a low level, it isn’t very useful for double to be penalty (because it’s very hard to set low level contracts) It is much more useful for low level doubles to be artificial (not penalty). There are several different artificial doubles. You will know the difference based on who is making them. Overaller uses the takeout double. It is only one of three ways that they can get into the auction.
