Overcalling a Suit: (Part 2 of 13) Responder Without a Fit – Minimum

When the auction becomes competitive, some things change dramatically, while others remain mostly the same. One of the tools that responder gains in a competitive auction is the negative double. This tool is designed to use the opponents’ overcall to help the partnership find a major-suit fit. Since negative doubles have their own lesson, we won’t be covering finding a major suit fit here and instead will be focusing on how responder bids when they don’t have a fit.
