Overcalling a Suit: (Part 1 of 13) Overcaller’s First Bid

There are only three ways to overcall: A 5-card suit, notrump, and a takeout double. This lesson will be focused on overcalling a suit. In order to overcall a suit at the cheapest level, we need a 5-card suit and 8-16 HCP at the one level and 10-16 HCP at the two level. If an overcall is a jump, it is always weak. We will cover that in a different lesson!
